Fresh water fishing has slowed due to the weather over the last week. Bream and shell cracker have started their bedding and this week ends moon usually is the best weekend of the year. Wigglers and hybrids have been the best baits. The lake and lower parts of the river seem to be the most consistent. Some strippers and hybrids are around the railroad.
Bass have been consistent with spinner baits and Reds have been picking the spinner baits. White/Chartreuse.
Freshwater fishing has increased. Baits have been a mixture of crickets and worms. There has been a sign of row in fish for two to three weeks now. The next moon phase the fish should be on bed. Rain has caused the river to rise, which has slightly slowed the fish from feeding. However, as soon as the river begins falling, fishing will be at its peak.

The bream and shell cracker have started bedding around the entrance to eastriver. Some strippers and hybrids have been caught up the river around the forks. Still some Reds and trout are still hanging around but most have moved out into the Bay, around the deeper edges of the dry-bars.

Majority of saltwater fish have left the river system. You should find some trout and redfish around the HWY 98 Bridge and dry bar moving toward grassy areas. The river system has still been producing stripers, and hybrids. The most common bait has been live shrimp. The rain in recent days has moved freshwater species of shell cracker, bass, and brim near the mouth of the bay. Those fish can be caught using a mixture of worms and crickets.

Trout and Red fish have still been consistent in the river system. Biobaits and Shrimp have been good options to fish. The best area for the trout and Reds have been around the mouths of the river either, Eastriver, St Marks or little St. Marks. Some Strippers have been caught up in the river on shrimp under a popping cork. Sheepshead are being caught around the bridge mixed with some Trout and Reds.

Sheepshead have been around the bridge live shrimp have been the best bait for them. The mouth of the river is still producing a mixture of fish. Freshwater bream and shell cracker are bedding, and some strippers are showing up in the creeks. Over all saltwater fishing should be will be better wind permitting around one of the dry-bars.

Fishing around the Dry-bars is the most consistent area now. A variety of fish have been caught. The best have been late in the evening for Trout, a hot new bait for them has been the Big bite’s BioBait in darker Colors like Red. During the day many Mackeral have been caught with anything that will flash, J-jigs by got-cha or Spoons. A Mixture of other fish have been mixed in. Whiting and White Trout as well as many other species are being caught on shrimp on the bottom
Dry Bar area has produced trout around high tide in the evening. Fish the deeper south edge using live shrimp, glow or dark colored grubs. Sheepsheads are still around bridge pilings using live shrimp or fiddler crabs. Whiting and White Trout have been caught around the bird sanctuary using a piece of shrimp.

Fishing from the piers have been good. Mackerel have been caught during the day on light spoons. Just cast out as far as you can, then if you need to let the line drift of you reel to get the spoon where you need to be. Whiting and Reds have been mixed in as well. Shrimp on the bottom has been the most effective way to fish for a Varity of fish. Late in the evening the trout have been really good from the piers. Shrimp on the bottom or BioBait has been produce quality fish. The St. George Island side has been closed for construction of a boat ramp not sure when it will be open. The Eastpoint side is open and is producing fish.
Late afternoon’s trout have been caught on the pier. A few sharks have begin to show up in the bay and deeper areas. Dry Bar area has produced trout around high tide in the evening. Fishing at the ends of the Island has started picking up. The Trout and some Reds have shown up on the grass flats on the inside of the Island and on the main land side around Yents Buoy. A variety of baits have been used from soft Plastics or BioBaits, MirrO-lure and spoons. Mourning and evening tides have been the best times. Mackerel and some Pompano have been in the deeper water around the ends of the Island. Spoon and live Sand fleas are the best bait for Mackerel and Pompano. The outside beach has produced a mixture of fish and Shrimp on the bottom is the best approach
Fishing around the east end of the island will be increasing the next two to three weeks. Fish are holding in deeper areas, such as around dry bars. On days when wind is calm be on the lookout for Spanish and Pompano. Choice bait is silver spoons or nylures. If you can get sandfleas it is the best natural bait. Whiting is predominant species feeding in the surf; using a piece of shrimp on the bottom. You have a chance of catching a variety of species.

The surf has really turned on over the last few weeks. Whiting have been feeding on the bottom on either Shrimp or Fish Bites. A mixture of other fish have been caught including many Pompano, Live sand Fleas have been the best if available or frozen ones or artificial Amber Glow. Pompano rigs or Nylures have been commonly used to present the sand fleas. Mackerels have been caught on spoons or J-jigs. The Pompano and Mackerel have been better around the ends of the Islands in deeper water.
Whiting is predominant species feeding in the surf; using a piece of shrimp on the bottom. You have a chance of catching a variety of other species. Pompano and Spanish have been caught near the ends of the island. Over the next two to three weeks as the water temperature rises near 70-72 degrees, Pompano and Spanish will be in full season. Natural sandfleas, or gulp sandfleas on a nylure will be the choice bait! Good Luck Fishin!

Weather has still made it hard to fish St. Vincent over the next few weeks as winds die St. Vincent will be the prime area for Trout and Red Fish. Bob Sykes Cut has produced Sheepshead and some bigger Reds. The Pompano have started showing up around the rocks. The best baits are Nylures Chrome Heads and tip it with real sand flea or one of the Gulps. The Surf has produce many whiting and will increase all species over the next few weeks.

The offshore Report has been good. Grouper have been caught in shallow water off Carrabelle and on the Reefs. Some nice Snapper have been showing up as well. Check out the 14+ pound one caught earlier last week on the brag board. Be aware of the different Regulations of the State and Federal Waters. Snapper is closed in federal waters. Snapper have been caught on cigar minnows and Grouper on a mixture of baits, LY’s, cigar minnows or Spanish sardines.
Just a note the Ramp at the Ten foot hole is closed for repairs, so if this is the ramp you ussualy use seek other arangments for the next few weeks.
The offshore report has been mixed. Fishing has been mostly good when weather allows. A mixture of species has been caught; however stay up on fishing regulations. Watch for the proposed regulations and contact your representatives to let them know how you feel about changes that may take place.
